Muguruza won the Women's Final with a straight sets victory over Venus Williams to clinch her first title at SW19 and just a second Grand Slam.

Muguruza saved two set points in the 10th game, the first a 19-stroke rally that ended when Williams netted a forehand.

She is the first Spanish woman to win Wimbledon since her coach Conchita Martinez denied Martina Navratilova over three sets in 1994.

"She was definitely an inspiration and it's incredible to play her here", said Muguruza, who had not yet turned four when Williams played her first match here.

The ladies competition concludes with this match, and we have to say that at the end, we saw a very quality tournament, with a lot of fantastic games which are going to be the subject of debates for quite some time. Despite having to compete against each other on the tennis court, Williams told For The Win that Serena has been very supportive of her on her journey.

Spain's Muguruza, 23, is aiming for her first Wimbledon triumph after losing to Serena in the 2015 final. "Congratulations to Venus with a good tournament and I want to thank my whole team for this competition", said the Spaniard at the ceremony.

It was the last and only opportunity Williams had to break her opponent's resolve.

At the tender age of just 22, Muguruza has already racked up an impressive total in prize money. I think not everybody can do that.

"There's always something to learn from matches that you win and the ones that you don't win".

The finalists will be watched by a host of famous faces, including former Great British Bake Off judge Mary Berry, Dame Kelly Holmes, actor Aidan Turner and American actress Hilary Swank.

At 23, Spanish-Venezuelan Muguruza already is already a Grand Slam champion, winning the French Open last year. In the second set, the combination of Williams' fading and Muguruza's getting stronger made for a lopsided finish.

Muguruza showed guts to sneak a nerve-shredding opening set, saving two set points before hitting Williams decisively one game later.
