Seemingly dropped in favor of the Moto Z range, the Moto X hasn't had a new addition since 2015 but we can now confirm that Motorola is working on a new handset in the X range.

Motorola has sent out media invites for the event to be held on 24.08.17 at 10:00, but it did not states which smartphone they are going to launch.

The smartphone could be powered by a Snapdragon 630 and will come with a dual rear camera.

Last week we got confirmation that some long ago leaked shots of the upcoming Moto X4 did in fact depict the phone's final design, and earlier today the Brazilian equivalent to the US FCC outed quite a number of live images of the prototype that went through its testing. By the way, we're allegedly dealing with 12 and 8MP "main" shooters here, capable of various wide-angle tricks, a 120-degree field of view and depth of field effects, plus a 16-megapixel (!) selfie cam enriched with f/2.0 aperture. Further, at the bottom of the phone, many will be happy to hear that there is a 3.5mm headphone jack with a USB Type-C port. In terms of the SIM card placement, it is on the top of the phone with a microSD card slot as well. No word yet on pricing or when it'll be announced, so we'll have to wait to see if the X4 can find its niche.

Other extra features include a fingerprint scanner on the front and Motorola specifics such as the Moto Actions, Moto Display and Moto Voice.

Android Authority managed to get its hands on the specs sheet of the device, in which it was confirmed to come with a 5.2-inch full high-definition (HD) display with a Corning Gorilla Glass coating for protection. The camera will also support 4K video recordings. The device is said to be launched in two color variants - Sterling Blue and Super Black.
